Do you have a messy microwave? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Microwaves are a huge part of our daily life and it’s totally normal to have some dirty build up in there. However, it is important that you clean it regularly.

If you don’t want to use any harsh chemicals in your microwave and don’t want to waste any extra money on a kitchen cleaning material, you can still clean your microwave naturally and effectively. Not only is this microwave cleaning method simple, quick and natural – but it also uses a key ingredient you most likely already have on hand.

What You Need

  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • 1 lemon
  • Dry dishtowel

Instructions:

  1. Pour about 1/2 cup water into the bowl.
  2. Slice the lemon in half, squeeze the juice into the water and drop the lemon halves into the bowl.
  3. Microwave on the highest setting for 3 minutes.
  4. After the 3 minutes go by, leave it undisturbed for 5 minutes.
  5. Open the microwave and remove the lemon water bowl.
  6. Use the dishtowel to wipe down the microwave. The steam from the lemon water will have loosened the gunk and allowed it to become easily wiped off.
