How to Clean Cast Irons Skillets

If you take anything away from this article, don’t use soap, soak it overnight, or put the cast iron skillet in the dishwasher. These will ruin its natural seasoning. To clean it use very hot water and a mild, non-abrasive sponge after each use. For stuck-on bits, use a combination of coarse salt and hot water and scrub it gently before rinsing with hot water. Make sure it’s dry and be sure to get rid of excess water.
