A strawberry shortcake is one of those timeless desserts that will never get old. The recipe below is very simple and meant for 4 servings.
Ingredients
For this strawberry shortcake, you need: 3 tablespoons sugar 4 cups flour 4 cups strawberries 5 tablespoons baking powder 3 cups whipping cream 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 1/4 cup butter
Instructions
The first step is to set the oven to 450 F degrees.
Begin by cleaning and hulling the strawberries. Cut them all in half and use a fork to smash them. Add 1/2 cup sugar to the berries and leave them for at least 30 minutes on the side.
Combine the flour, salt, 3 tablespoons sugar, and baking powder. Include 3/4 cup softened butter and mix all the ingredients together. Pour 1 1/4 cups cream and you will get a dough.
Use your hands to knead it for 1 minute, then spread it until it’s 1/2-inch thick. Start making round shapes of it with the size of 3 inches. You will need an even number.
Put these round-shaped pieces on the baking sheet. Use the butter to go over them with a brush.
Leave them in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes. Take them out and use two for each strawberry shortcake.
Beat the cream together with vanilla. Put one shortcake, cover it with berries, then add the other one on top. Finish with the whipped cream.
