Ariana surprised everyone this year with her choice of Halloween costume. Instead of dressing as a cute cat or a sultry witch, she stole Halloween with a super realistic tribute to The Twilight Zone.
Earlier this week, Grande began dropping hints through various clips from The Twilight Zone. The award-winning series aired in the 60s and is still one of the highest-ranking TV shows on IMDB.
In the midst of her Twi-Zone tributes, one fan commented: “Yes! I can watch this show all day! Also does this have something to do with your Halloween costume?”
It turns out @ponyy_boyy was absolutely right. Three days later, Grande posted a photo of herself with a prosthetic pig mask. She captioned the photo “eye of the beholder” referring to the popular Twilight Zone episode of the same name.
In the episode, a young woman undergoes surgery so she can look “normal” and be attractive to men. When the bandage is revealed, we see that Janet is a beautiful woman only in her universe, she is deemed to be ugly. She is told that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” and that she should not give up on finding love.
Grande’s costume not only smashes it in terms of being a killer Twilight Zone costume. She also makes a subtle commentary on society’s beauty standard, brilliantly reminding her fans that beauty is subjective.
