Get Some Sun While Staying Active With Beach Workouts

This summer (if things continue opening up), we expect to spend a lot of time at the beach. While sitting around, enjoying a cold one, and tanning are all acceptable things to do at the beach, if you’re looking to get some exercise in or your body moving, there are tons of fun ways to stay active at the beach. So grab a friend and try out these exercises.

Mini Bootcamp

It’s always easier to work out when you have a friend right there with you. While there are tons of group boot camps, you can create your own with a friend. One that we suggest involves one person running into the water and once it’s deep enough swimming 20 strokes in and 20 strokes back. While they’re doing this, the other person does a bodyweight exercise like planks, squats, or push-ups. Then, you’ll switch.

Play Volleyball

Beach volleyball is the perfect way to stay moving and you’ll be having so much fun, you won’t realize you’re burning tons of calories. It’s a great way to meet new people while exercising.

Go For a Run

Running on the beach is much more exciting than on a treadmill and if you run barefoot, you’ll be activating muscles you don’t usually engage while running elsewhere. Just be careful not to push yourself too hard as running on the beach is challenging.

Go Kayaking

Anyone who’s kayaked before knows how much your whole body works—it’s not just your arms that are getting the boat moving. Get your cardio in while enjoying your time out on the water.

Water Workout

Water aerobics workouts can be done in the pool as well as in the ocean. Make sure the water comes up to your waist so you get the resistance from the water, and do some lunges, skater, jumping jacks, and squats.
