Don’t Let the Law of Attraction Dictate Your Life

A lot of people believe in what’s known as “the law of attraction.” This ideology states that good things will come to you if you set yourself the intention of achieving it through means of positive thinking and projecting positivity. While it’s nice to believe good things will happen if you set your mind to them, it’s easy to become blind to what’s in front of you.

The law of attraction feeds confirmation bias in an unhealthy way; where you sometimes cannot see how something is not going your way until it’s blatantly told to you. This can be harmful if you’re pushing boundaries with someone who’s not comfortable expressing themselves to you, especially in romantic relationships. It’s really important to be clear in communication rather than focusing your efforts on building a relationship that the other person doesn’t want to participate in.

The law of attraction can also be really hurtful to the people around you if you try to push it onto them. This can send the message to people that they aren’t putting in enough emotional, mental, or even physical energy into something, which can be really discouraging especially if you’re not appreciating the work they’ve already done. So, if you do believe in the law of attraction, try to match that with positive reinforcement.
