Discover the Swedish Kitchen with the Help of Rachel Khoo

Never, in recent history, has the kitchen been so important. A place of comfort, it also acts these days as a form of escapism—a way of traveling around the world through one single dish.

Take, for instance, British cook, writer, and broadcaster, Rachel Khoo. Currently based in Stockholm, Khoo aims to teach you the ins and outs of Swedish cooking. Her most recent cookbook, The Little Swedish Kitchen, explores the nation’s simple and balanced approach to cooking, all whilst sampling their best-loved ingredients.

“I didn’t want to just write a cookbook about Swedish food,” explained Khoo in an interview with Khoollect, “but a book that is deeply practical and would solve any or all cookery ‘problems’.” These “problems” include questions like: what to cook if you’ve only got 30 minutes to spare; or if you’ve got a vegetarian/carnivore/gluten intolerant guest joining the dinner table; or if you want to make something, light or rich or really indulgent.

But you don’t have to purchase her book to enjoy her tips and tricks (though we admit, such a book could come in handy). You can also follow her Instagram page and follow her recipes on YouTube. Hopefully, says Khoo, you’ll discover a must-try cuisine that is about far more than just meatballs, fika, and cinnamon buns.
