If you want to declutter your home, it must be a conscious choice to attain continued success. Here are some steps to help you.

Declutter for a reason

The best reason to declutter is that you want to do it.  If you no longer want to allow your belongings and mess to control you, you are ready to declutter. If you’re doing it because you think it’s what other people expect from you, you’ll do it, but will you stick to it?

Have a plan

Room by room, take a careful look around you at the clutter in your home.  Evaluate if this is a job you can do alone or if you’ll need help. Are you going to need to hire someone to help you move some of your clutter off your property?  Where is the best place to start? These are some of the questions you need to ask.

One bite at a time

Don’t view decluttering as one big exercise otherwise you’ll become overwhelmed.  Break it up into tasks that are realistic and attainable. Set goals for yourself and reward yourself for a job well done.
