Dallas Cowboys’ bad luck with injuries continued this week. According to multiple reports, Cowboys’ starting corner Trevon Diggs suffered a foot fracture in Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh Steelers and is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Cowboys initially believed that Diggs’ injury isn’t severe considering that he seemed ready to return to the contest. However, after a series of tests on Monday, the medical staff found a fractured bone in the 23-year-old player’s foot that will require four to six weeks to heal.

This will most likely rule Diggs for the remainder of the 2020 season, although the injury shouldn’t have major consequences.

Trevon Diggs, selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, was one of the bright spots for Dallas’ struggling defense this season. Diggs had two interceptions and 1.0 sacks throughout the first eight games while adding 10 passes defended and 48 tackles.

Cowboys will most likely have to turn to 2019’s undrafted cornerback Saivion Smith to fill Diggs’ shoes. Smith played in four games this season, but failed to record a tackle.
