Cindy Grisdela Will Inspire You to Start Quilting

With life hardly returning to normal anytime soon, we seek comfort elsewhere—in our home, that is. With time on our hands, crafting seems like a good pastime. And if our craft-making results in a comfy blanket all the better.

Recently we’ve been drawn to quilting. A traditional craft, quilting continues to be a popular hobby to this day. Searching for inspiration, we’ve come across Cindy Grisdela. Based in Reston, VA, Grisdela comes from a long line of women who have expressed themselves using a needle and thread.

“Creating with various forms of fabric and thread has been a part of my life since I was a child,” she relayed on her website, explaining that much of what she knows was learned through trial and error. Describing her process as “jazz music,” the art of quilting requires some improvisation.

“Putting colors together intuitively, I like to use fabric the way a painter might use paint to create graphic compositions that engage the viewer from a distance, yet invite a closer look,” notes Grisdela. Scrolling through her work will inspire you to start stitching!
