Whether you’re going away for the weekend or spending a significant time away from home, packing correctly can be stressful. How do you make sure you’ve brought enough clothes that you’ll have options but still wear everything you brought? The best way to avoid this crisis is to pick a color palette.

Your Base Color

The foundation of all your outfits should surround one base color. Pick a color like black, gray, white, or brown that will go with other bright colors, but can stand alone as well. Have the majority of your staple items like pants or skirts in this color.

Bring Brightness

Brightness does not necessarily mean a bold red or an electric blue; think of this as more as pieces that pop. This is where you can add in more patterns, or accented colors. However, pick pieces that will go with multiple of your foundation items. This way you can mix and match and keep your everyday looks eye-catching.

How Much To Bring

A good rule of them of how many items to bring is to divide the number of days you’ll be gone by two; this is how many tops you need. Divide the number of days by three and that’s how many bottoms you can bring.
