]]>You want to start building your skater girl wardrobe from the ground up—literally. Maybe the most important part of a skateboard wardrobe is the shoes. Lots of different companies make skateboarding shoes, but Vans are a classic choice.
Whether it’s a beanie, a bucket hat, or a baseball cap, a hat is a critical part of skater girl fashion.
Skate fashion is about comfort and there is no piece of clothing more comfy than the hoodie. Bonus skate points if you choose one with a skateboard company logo on it.
When it comes to skate style, baggy and loose is the way to go. A pair of cargo pants or Dickies you can move around in will make you look like a full-on skater.

]]>The studies don’t lie: people who have better health—get better sleep and exercise more—are also happier. So as lame as it may sound if you’re not sleeping and exercising enough, try starting there. You might be surprised how much of an impact it makes.
Another thing you can do that will make a huge impact on your happiness is meditation. By teaching you to focus on the present moment instead of worrying about the future or obsessing over the past, meditation is a great tool for improving happiness.
One common fallacy we humans make is believing that we’ll be happy if we just obtain that thing we want: the job, the promotion, the partner, the salary, etc. But the truth is that as long as we’re always focused on getting the next thing, we’ll never be happy. What will really make us happy is being grateful for what we already have.

]]>First, new tattoos are very sensitive to the sun, which means you have to be able to completely avoid the sun if you get one on a visible part of your body. When they’re healing, you also can’t put sunscreen on them, so the only option is total avoidance, which is pretty dang hard in the sunny summer.
Beyond that, new tattoos and piercings have to be kept out of water – swimming pools, oceans, seas, etc. – until they’re completely healed. For tattoos, that’ll take around two to four weeks, which isn’t that bad, but with piercings, that healing time is much longer: from three months on the low side up to a full year.
So unless you’re okay with missing out on all water activities during your summer, it’s best to abstain from getting tattoos and piercings in the summertime, as hard as it is.
But on the plus side? This forces you to wait on your new tattoo and piercing ideas, meaning that by the time you get around to actually doing them, you can feel more confident that you really want them.

]]>One of the main things to think about is how to balance out the look of your glasses frames with your eye makeup. If your glasses are colorful, go for a neutral eye. If they’re bold, try a more minimal eye look. If they’re clear and barely noticeable, you can go more dramatic. Get the idea?
It’s always annoying when you get mascara on your lenses because your eyelashes brush up against your glasses. If you want to avoid this, curl your lashes. This will also help open up your eyes visually.
While glasses might clash with crazy eye shadow looks sometimes, they pair really nicely with fun, exciting lip colors. So play around with different colors, mixing and matching with the tones in your glasses frames.

]]>But there’s one type of safety that many of us tend to overlook, and it’s a real shame. We’re talking about first aid. Unfortunately, accidents and health issues happen all the time, but we’re rarely prepared. Few people keep a first aid kit around and even fewer would know what to do with one if the situation came up.
But the truth is that if you play a sport, go to the gym, do active outdoor activities like hiking and swimming, or simply exist in the world, you are liable for all sorts of accidents all the time, ranging from scrapes and bruises to more serious bone breaks and allergic reactions.

That’s why it’s so worth it to go to a first aid class. It’s a few hours out of your life but it may save somebody else’s.

]]>At least in the Northern hemisphere, June is a pretty hot month, and it’s much hotter if you’re out in the sun all afternoon. Take care of yourself by drinking plenty of water and—especially if you’re planning to have lots of skin exposed—wear sunscreen.
Pride is known for being incredibly crowded, making it easy to lose your friends, especially if you’re all drinking and running around. So make sure that wherever you go, you bring a buddy along with you so that you don’t find yourself alone and lost.
It’s a good thing fanny packs are so stylish this year because they’re also a great way to keep your belongings safe in a huge crowd by keeping them close to your body. You never know who will be in a big group like a pride parade, so keep an eye out.
And, no less importantly, make sure to respect the belongings and personal space of everybody else around you.
