When people normally go in for a job interview, they often try to impress the interviewer with their skillset, experience, and overall demeanor. It’s important to try to put your best foot forward and truly strive to find the perfect job for you. But it’s not just about finding a job with the best company that pays the best salary. There’s a major factor that you should be considering and that’s whether or not you’re going to be appreciated at the office.

Quality of Life

People rarely put emphasis on the importance of life quality when thinking about which job to apply to. This is also true with people who have been at the same company for years. Some employees talk about how they get paid well, but that they’re miserable going into work because of how they feel mistreated. The question is, why do they put up with it, and why should you?

Protecting Your Mental Health

The obvious response is that “you just have to pay your bills at the end of the day.” But while it is true that money is money, and a job is just a means to an end, it’s also true that you shouldn’t go through your life unhappy. If you’re being challenged at work in a way where you’re respected, that’s one thing. But if it’s clear that you’re under-appreciated and you feel like you’re in a toxic work environment—make sure you get out of that situation, because no salary is worth sacrificing your mental health.
