The red carpet at the VMAs is always a huge hot mess, but we enjoy it nevertheless. Nothing changed this year, apart from the fact that this event gave us a couple of pretty epic new fashion trends.

Feathers

No major red carpet event this year can go without a couple of feathered dresses, and some of our favorite stars couldn’t let go of this trend at VMAs, either.

Cutouts

Dresses with eye-catching cutouts were all the rage at this ceremony. Camila Cabello and Normani are the ones responsible of putting them on the map.

Keep It Short

Short dresses and suits were all over the place at MTV VMAs, which is only fitting for an awards ceremony taking place at the end of the summer.

Just Shine

What a better way to bring some drama to the red carpet than rock a dazzling dress that will get all eyes on you in a split second?

Gender Neutral

Our favorite male celebrities ditched boring black suits for something more dramatic, colorful and playful at this ceremony, and looked amazing in the process.
