5 Environmentally Friendly New Year’s Resolutions

Setting New Year’s resolutions can always be challenging. Here are some small changes you can make in 2020 to do more for your natural environment.

Recycle

It seems very simple but most people do not really understand what can and cannot be recycled. Many plastics, especially colored packaging, cannot actually be recycled. When you are buying food, take an extra moment to see if the packaging can actually go into the recycling bin.

Plant a Tree

If you are not sure what to buy your friends and family for gifts this year, why not plant them a tree? If you adopt a fruit tree, they will benefit from the fruit it brings for years to come.

Clear up Beaches

Spending the day at the beach can be a fun family activity. Turn litter picking into a fun activity and see who can collect the most plastic from the sea and sand. Better still, join an organized beach clean and get to meet new friends.

Switch Off

Turning your lights off, turning your heating down and unplugging devices will not only save you money but will help the environment. Perhaps this is the year you can invest in solar power to go one step further.

Modes of Transport

Make a rule that you car share or get public transport when possible. If you need to go somewhere locally, whatever the weather, try walking before taking the easy options and jumping in your car.
