If awards season happens to be your favorite time of the year, you’re probably already getting ready for the Oscars by watching all possible contenders. Some of them are available on Netflix and here are three front-runners for the Academy Award that you should check out sooner than later.

Don’t Look Up

Don’t Look Up centers around two low-level astronomers who discover a comet that will hit Earth in just six months, and are trying to prepare humanity for the impending doom. This hilarious satire hits close to home, and it’s worth watching for its star-studded cast alone, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, and Meryl Streep.

The Power of the Dog

Netflix’s biggest contender for the best picture this year comes in the form of this period western drama about a charismatic, yet cruel rancher clashing with his brother after he brings his new wife and her son home. Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, and Kodi Smit-McPhee are all a shoo-in for acting nods, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see them win.

Tick, Tick… Boom!

It’s Andrew Garfield’s world and we’re just living in it! The British star made quite a comeback in 2021 and this biopic about the iconic composer of Rent, Jonathan Larson, is one of the movies that put him back on the map. He’ll most likely score his second Oscar nod for his performance in this project.
