You Can Actually Make Wine Out Of Dandelions!

Dandelions aren’t just those cute little yellow flowers that spring up in your yard, these weeds are actually very healthy for you! Thay have a lot of vitamin A, vitamin C, iron, and more! Moreover, they can be turned into a wine quite easily. Follow these steps and you’ll be making your own at home in no time.

Ingredients

Gather the ingredients before the process. You will need:

3 quarts dandelion blossom, no green part!
1 gallon of water
2 oranges
1 lemon
3 pounds of sugar
1 package wine yeast
1 pound raisins

Method

  1. Put the dandelions in a large pot
  2. Boil the water and pour it over the dandelion blossoms. Cover and let the flowers steep for three days
  3. Zest half the skin of a lemon and an orange, and then peel the rest of the fruits making sure you don’t get too much white pith
  4. Slice the fruit into rounds
  5. Add only the skins to the dandelion mixture and bring to a boil
  6. Strain the solids and add in the sugar until it’s dissolved. Cool
  7. Add in the yeast, raisins, and the fruit rounds and cover with a towel and a rubber band to secure it.
  8. Afer about 1-2 weeks the mixture should stop bubbling. Strain the mixture through several layers of cheesecloth.
  9. Put in sterilized bottles and place a deflated balloon on top. Once the balloons stay deflated for a full day, they’re ready to be corked, stored, and enjoyed!
