You’ve heard of #Veganuary and #dryjanuary but #Januhairy is the trend that has women empowering themselves by ditching the razor and celebrating their natural beauty.
A trend has swept over Instagram of women posting photos of themselves having not shaven. The campaign was created to encourage women to love themselves and their natural hair while also raising money for a fantastic cause.
A 21-year-old student named Laura Jackson launched the campaign. She explained her reasoning behind it to BBC News: “Though I felt liberated and more confident in myself, some people around me didn’t understand or agree with why I didn’t shave. I realised that there is still so much more for us to do to be able to accept one another fully and truly.”
We completely understand where Laura Jackson is coming from. All you have to do is watch a women’s razor advert to realize that people are so shocked by female body hair, the women using the razor already have smooth, hairless legs.
