Writing down your thoughts and journaling can be incredibly therapeutic and extremely beneficial. But have you ever thought about writing down your dreams?

Whether you believe that your dreams are a symbolism of your subconsciousness and inner conflicts that you’re trying to overcome, or just an outlet for your imagination, keeping track of what haunts or inspires you in the late hours of the night can benefit you in multiple ways.

Helps Improve Memory

Your memory can be just like a muscle that you train and practice. The more focus you put into remembering and paying attention to key details, the better chance you will have at remembering that specific situation. The same goes for your dreams. As soon as you wake up, write down as many details as you can remember, whether you think they’re important or not.

I had a very curious dream last night. I was driving my car, ahead of me a friend was driving his and I was following him. I could through the windscreen that his hair looked unusually long, shiny and very golden. We arived at a small festival though nothing seemed to be happening, there were no events and hardly anyone was there. There were two tents only, one was in the distance and Holy was making his way in that direction. The field was unexpectedly frozen with a thick frost. I stepped out barefooted, i felt no cold. I noticed my friends were in the tent but i didnt care to join them, i just felt i had to follow Mcgrail. In the far tent i could see my old school friend. As i followed the path and stepped out across the ice I thought to myself "this is the best day of my life" . . . .This dream feels full of mysterious clues. Dreams love to work with puns and they often use plays on words. My friends stage name Holy Mcgrail needs no explanation for the symbol it offers. I seem to be on a journey to follow what is holy, a grail quest of sorts perhaps. The festival is a common dream theme for me. What should be a happy social time is distanced and uneventfull in some way, a lockdown connection. . . The frost was a hard one to crack though, untill i was brushing up today on my tarot. I looked at the card of the hermit, how he takes the lone path, stepping out into the snow. He withdraws from society, following his golden light. He needs to work out, for himself alone, where his life holds meaning. This i can relate to, images also come to mind of Merlin, the old wise man and the holy grail. So it seems my dream wants to commune with me about where my happiness lays, this is where i am protected from the cold. I am shown 'my best day ever' and it appears to be on this icy hermits path, following my grail. In the far tent was my dear old friend, who sadly became irreversably ill, spending her life now in a semi concious state. Perhaps my grail path leads me to the subconcious. . . . . #dreams #dreamdiary #dreamjournal #dreamanalysis #innerwork #dreamart #illustration #jung #dreamdrawing #penandink #thehermit #holygrail #surrealism #subconcious

Aids Personal Growth and Self-Assessments

The cool thing about dream analysis is that different symbols or even people that appear in your dream can symbolize all sorts of things. But keeping tracking of how you felt within the dream can actually help you better comprehend and understand your own personal emotions, thoughts, and experiences. Basically, tracking your emotions in your dreams can open up a whole new perspective about your own personal self.

Inspires New Ideas and Creative Solutions

Keeping track of the situations in your dreams that you encounter, and how they are solved can inspire you to come up with creative solutions in your real-life—especially if you are able to practice “lucid dreaming”, the state of which you can control aspects of your dreams. Even Albert Einstein came up with some brilliant ideas from his dreams!

Whether it’s through a recorded voice note, physical drawing and sketches, or with a digital app journal, there are so many ways to track your dreams.
