It’s something we all deal with. We fall in love with a pair of shoes. They’re high heels so we’re terrified of how we’re going to walk in them without hurting our feet or falling over. But don’t worry, These tips are here to save the day.

Minimize Heel Time

A lot of heels only start hurting after you spend a few hours in them, so if you can, try to wear your heels only for the part of the day that you really need them for your look. That means you can bring sneakers to change into for your commute home or try to wear your heels for occasions that you’ll know you’ll be doing a lot of sitting during.

Work Your Way Up

When wearing heels, try to be realistic. If your usual daily shoe is a Birkenstock, you might not want to jump straight into a pair of 5-inch stilettos. Instead, try starting with a wedge or chunky, shorter heel. Once you conquer those, you can go for something a bit more challenging.

Practice

Before you wear a heel out for the day, make sure you practice walking around in it at least for ten or 15 minutes. Just trying it on in the shoe store won’t be enough to help you really figure out how to walk in that particular pair of heels.
