Move over tie-dye nails and neon colors because we have a new nail art trend that is going to blow your mind and the best thing is that it’s bringing back major ’70s nostalgia. We don’t know if you remember those iconic lava lamps that were popular a long time ago, but now they’re coming back to make our nails look pretty too.
Nail artist Liam Peter started a new trend by transforming stiletto-shaped nails into miniature lava lamps with cute orange bubbles that actually look like they’re moving.
“Layering jelly and neon gel polishes gives depth and makes it seem as though the blobs are really flowing around,” Peter told Allure. “The real star, though, is the sunlight. Just like with holographic effects, these come alive when the sun hits the nail.”
Apparently, the artist was inspired by the work of his colleague Alec Cole Hinz, who recently created “Aquarium Nails.” He used the GelBottle Inc. gel nail polish in bright pink and creamy orange shades to create this look and the results really impressed his fans on Instagram. Most people were amazed by this new nail design and so were we.
We guess this is the perfect nail look to end this hot summer with, so the only question is – do you dare to do it?
