For the first time in history, three cities share the title of the world’s most expensive city. Singapore, Paris and Hong Kong are the priciest places in the globe according to the Economist Intelligence Unit’s annual Worldwide Cost of Living report.
This annual report evaluates prices of 160 different products and services such as food, drink, clothing, and home rents. Singapore topped the list for five straight years, but this year is joined by Hong Kong and Paris.

A Prince named Sang Nila Utama, who allegedly founded the Kingdom of Singapura, saw a lion while hunting one day. He decided to name the city after the animal – “Singapura” means “Lion City” in Sanskrit.
