The biggest fashion event of the year has been postponed. The Met Gala will be taking place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art at an unconfirmed future date.

The Met Gala is the ideal event for anyone who likes their fashion to be a little bit extra. The hottest names in celebrity culture hit the red carpet in custom-made suits and gowns designed with a theme in mind. Last year, the theme was “Camp” and the result was the most bombastic and colorful soiree in high fashion.

The Met Gala is scheduled to take place on the first Monday of May. Unfortunately, the organizers have now made the decision to postpone the event until further notice.

“Due to the unavoidable and responsible decision by the Metropolitan Museum to close its doors, About Time, and the opening night gala, will not take place on the date scheduled,” Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour wrote in a statement.

When the event does take place, it will have the theme “About Time: Fashion and Duration. Event curator Andrew Bolton says that the theme will be “a reimagining of fashion history that’s fragmented, discontinuous, and heterogeneous.”

Fortunately, good things come to those who wait.
