Black is always our go-to color as it works for everyone. But, the problem with black is its kind of boring. Sure, for winter it’s okay, but there are so many other color options out there. We find ourselves wondering if we can pull off more vibrant colors and instead of going for these options we decide to play it safe with neutral tones. The truth is, once you know which colors are best for your skin tone, it’s really pretty simple. Here’s your guide to determining the shades that will compliment you.

Warm

You’re warm if you have golden or olive skin tones and if your hair is anything from dark blonde to dark brown. The best warm colors to wear are oranges, reds, ambers, and golds. If you want to wear colors from the cool family, stick to darker blues and greens and reddish-purples. Avoid jewel tones and icy shades.

Cool

You’re cool if your skin tone has a bluish tint and your hair color is very dark or light blonde. Your go-to colors from the cool family are brighter blues, emeralds, and light purples. The warm colors you should opt for are rose and reddish pinks. It’s best to avoid oranges and yellows.

Neutral

You’re neutral if you can’t tell if you’re warm or cool, your hair is highlighted with ashy blondes or warmer tones, and your eyes are hazel. You’ll look best in neutral colors like jade green, dusty pink, and periwinkle blue. Say no to bright colors and reds and yellows.
