Well, they’re not what you think—heated blankets. They’re actually a blanket in which you knit or crochet a set number of rows each day and you correspond your yarn color to the temperature it is outside.
You don’t have to be a knitting expert as these blankets are a great way to give knitting or crocheting a shot. They use a basic crochet stitch and you can decide what colors you would like to use in your blanket. Like, for example, you can use light blue for temperatures cooler than 20, green for temperatures in the 30s, and red for temperatures in the 40s.
Typically, people choose blue tones for colder weather and orange or red tones for warmer weather, but you can be as creative as you want! At the end of the year, you’ll have a colorful blanket that tells the temperature story of the year.
You can still get started on your blanket even though we are in February by researching what the temperatures were in January and starting from there.
