Hudson Joseph Meek, a 16-year-old actor known for his role as Young Baby in the 2017 film Baby Driver, tragically passed away on December 21, 2024, following an accident in Vestavia Hills, Alabama.
The incident occurred on December 19, when Meek fell from a moving vehicle, sustaining severe blunt force injuries. He was immediately transported to UAB Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries two days later. The Vestavia Hills Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Born on August 5, 2008, in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, Hudson Meek began his acting career at a young age, sharing the screen with his brother, Tucker Meek. He made his film debut in the 2014 Lifetime movie The Santa Con and later appeared in the television series MacGyver. However, he gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Young Baby in Edgar Wright’s critically acclaimed film Baby Driver.
Beyond his acting pursuits, Meek was a sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School, where he was actively involved in various extracurricular activities. He played on the school’s football team, participated in the Honor Choir, and was a member of the student government. Additionally, Meek had achieved advanced scuba diving certification, showcasing his diverse interests and talents.
In the wake of his passing, Meek’s family released a heartfelt statement expressing their profound grief: “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met,” Entertainment Weekly reported.

They also announced plans to establish the Hudson J. Meek Memorial Scholarship, aimed at supporting a Vestavia Hills High School student annually, according to The New York Post.
A Celebration of Life service is scheduled to be held at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, with provisions made for live streaming to accommodate those unable to attend in person. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Hudson J. Meek Memorial Scholarship fund, ensuring that his legacy continues to inspire and support others.
