]]>It’s always easier to work out when you have a friend right there with you. While there are tons of group boot camps, you can create your own with a friend. One that we suggest involves one person running into the water and once it’s deep enough swimming 20 strokes in and 20 strokes back. While they’re doing this, the other person does a bodyweight exercise like planks, squats, or push-ups. Then, you’ll switch.
Beach volleyball is the perfect way to stay moving and you’ll be having so much fun, you won’t realize you’re burning tons of calories. It’s a great way to meet new people while exercising.
Running on the beach is much more exciting than on a treadmill and if you run barefoot, you’ll be activating muscles you don’t usually engage while running elsewhere. Just be careful not to push yourself too hard as running on the beach is challenging.
Anyone who’s kayaked before knows how much your whole body works—it’s not just your arms that are getting the boat moving. Get your cardio in while enjoying your time out on the water.
Water aerobics workouts can be done in the pool as well as in the ocean. Make sure the water comes up to your waist so you get the resistance from the water, and do some lunges, skater, jumping jacks, and squats.

In addition to making your commute your workout, you can also ditch your car and walk, run, or bike to the gym. Most people live close enough that this is possible and you’ll be getting a great warm-up!
Give you workout some variety by doing at home fitness videos or exercising in the park. You’ll be able to reconnect with nature and you can get a really amazing bodyweight workout.
Staying hydrated is important and it’s easier if you carry a reusable water bottle with you. Also, try using as few towels and possible and when you need to wash your clothes, make sure you are running a full load.
Be conservative with your water usage at the gym and at home. Also, bringing your own grooming supplies from home can cut down on plastic.

]]>To put it in the simplest terms, HIIT is pretty much cardio to the max, but instead of using an average effort of a 5 or 6 on a scale of 1 to 10, for HIIT you’ll alternate between pushing at levels of 7 or more and intervals of recovery at a minimal effort. The whole workout lasts around 20 minutes with the work intervals lasting between 30 seconds and 3 minutes and the rest intervals lasting as long or longer.
HIIT workouts put a lot of stress on your body, so you shouldn’t do them every day. The amount of HIIT workouts you can handle per week depends on your fitness level and goals, but it’s best to have one day of low-intensity exercise between two HIIT days, which adds up to three or four HIIT workouts a week. If you’re new to HIIT, start by doing one or two sessions per week for the first month and a half.
