The post Why Walking for Just 10 Minutes Each Day Can Boost Body and Mind appeared first on My Daily Magazine - Art, Design, DIY, Fashion and Beauty !.
]]>Walking is one of the best ways to get the heart beating that bit faster, thereby improving blood flow and circulation. A 10 minute stroll (or, to up the ante, a brisk-paced walk) may not be the most cardio-intensive workout, but it will help keep everything in check and see you stay healthy until the spring and summer allow for more time spent outdoors.
If you’re working in a desk-bound job, the chances are that by midday you’re starting to flag and feel a little lethargic. Stepping outside, even for ten minutes, can help reset your mind and body and provide you with more energy for the rest of the working day. It will also stop your muscles cramping as you won’t be staying in one seated position for hours on end.
As you step out on your walk, make an effort to take in your surroundings and notice the things around you. This will help take your mind off work (which will probably reduce stress levels) and give you a moment to yourself in the middle of a busy day. Taking mindful moments can improve overall contentment and improve relaxation, as we stop and consider the world outside.
Ten minutes doesn’t sound like much, but it can add up to have a huge difference on your overall mental, physical, and emotional health.

]]>We don’t get too many sunny days in the winter, but you should put them to some good use once they come your way. Step outside every time it’s not too gloomy or rainy outside, or consider checking the weather forecast in advance so you could plan longer walks.
Walking indoors is not so hard when you have a big home and can make a lot of steps just walking around and doing chores. On the other hand, if you’re living in a small apartment, you’ll probably struggle to increase your step count, but you can always head to a local mall where you can cover more ground.
Treadmill walking is another great way to increase your daily step count this winter without walking outdoors. Most people use this gym essential for running, but speed walking is also an option, and you can easily push your step count to 10,000 if you give it a try.
