Nail Files

Buy a couple of nail files to get rid of some of the dirt under your nails. You might find more under there than you realized and often it’s in hard to reach places. You can buy an inexpensive nail kit from the dollar store, or splurge at Ulta if you really want to. This is step one in all things nail care, and must not be overlooked!

Shape Your Nails

Cut your nails often and shape them nicely so they look even and well kept. This will not only make your nails look nice and clean, but will also make them look really nice when or if you paint them.

Vitamins

Many vitamins on the market promote healthy nail growth and vibrancy. They may be something to look into if you feel your nails need some extra tender loving care, but not am absolute necessary step.

Start by priming your nails with your favorite base coat. Then, apply one layer of OPI Infinite Shine nail polish in Espresso Your Inner Self. By only applying one coast, you get a more translucent look that adds to the sheer tone you are going for. Then add one really thin layer of OPI Infinite Shine in Kyoto Pearl (you can also thin this color out by mixing it with your clear coat. The last step is to simply add your favorite top coat and enjoy your beautiful nail look!

]]> If you’re used to keeping your nails on fleek all the time, not being able to go out to the salon to get your manicure may have hit you hard this year. But don’t despair, you can still have beautiful gel nails from the safety of your own home. It may require some skills, patience, and specialized tools, but it’s nothing you can’t handle.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Nail lamp
  • Cotton pads
  • Nail file
  • Cuticle cutter and/or cuticle removal cream
  • Nail clippers or scissors
  • Nail buffer block
  • PH bond, base coat and top coat
  • Gel nail polish

First, remove any polish you have on with acetone. Then you’ll want to remove your cuticles. The best way to do it is to use cuticle removal cream followed by a cuticle scraper and clipper.

Cut your nails to your desired length and file to the shape you want. To help your polish adhere better, buff your entire nail surface.

Wash your hands clean and apply PH bond to your nails, followed by a thin layer of gel base coat. Cure under your light for 2 minutes. Apply however many layers of your polish color you want, curing each for 2 minutes. Finish it off with a gel top coat. Cure for 2 minutes.

And it’s that simple. Enjoy your beautiful new mani!

Base and Top Coat

Make sure to have these two bottles on hand because they will make all the difference in how your nails will look. The base coat is great for preventing your nails from going yellow due to dark polishes, and the top coat makes the color stay longer on your nails without chipping.

Applying Polish

The proper way to apply nail polish is in a thin layer, ideally in just three strokes. Never apply a thick layer, instead, if you need more coverage, opt for two or three thin layers.

Nail Care

Use the nail file to shorten your nails when necessary, but file them in one direction to prevent splitting. Your nail polish remover should be acetone-free and with added oils, if possible. Use nail oil to soften the cuticles before gently pushing them back instead of cutting them.

But don’t despair, you can still have beautiful gel nails from the safety of your own home. It may require some skills, patience, and specialized tools, but it’s nothing you can’t handle.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Nail lamp
  • Cotton pads
  • Nail file
  • Cuticle cutter and/or cuticle removal cream
  • Nail clippers or scissors
  • Nail buffer block
  • PH bond, base coat and top coat
  • Gel nail polish

First, remove any polish you have on with acetone. Then you’ll want to remove your cuticles. The best way to do it is to use cuticle removal cream followed by a cuticle scraper and clipper.

Cut your nails to your desired length and file to the shape you want. To help your polish adhere better, buff your entire nail surface.

Wash your hands clean and apply PH bond to your nails, followed by a thin layer of gel base coat. Cure under your light for 2 minutes. Apply however many layers of your polish color you want, curing each for 2 minutes. Finish it off with a gel top coat. Cure for 2 minutes.

And it’s that simple. Enjoy your beautiful new mani!

Make sure to have these two bottles on hand because they will make all the difference in how your nails will look. The base coat is great for preventing your nails from going yellow due to dark polishes, and the top coat makes the color stay longer on your nails without chipping.

Applying Polish

The proper way to apply nail polish is in a thin layer, ideally in just three strokes. Never apply a thick layer, instead, if you need more coverage, opt for two or three thin layers.

Nail Care

Use the nail file to shorten your nails when necessary, but file them in one direction to prevent splitting. Your nail polish remover should be acetone-free and with added oils, if possible. Use nail oil to soften the cuticles before gently pushing them back instead of cutting them.
