]]>The cut is all about creating volume with clever layering that gives body and movement. Originating in Korea, the style has spread around the world thanks, in part, to TikTok.
The key to achieving the look is to cut wispy layers, particularly around the face. This gives the hair a lightweight, feathery appearance which is where the “air cut” derives its name. Running your fingers through your tresses will give you that Farah Fawcett feel!
Another win for the air cut is that is works on pretty much every hair type. Limp hair will benefit from the volume that the layers create, and thick hair will have more movement because it is not as weighed down. Using a volumizing spray and some velcro rollers will help achieve that bounce.
Just remember that this style looks best with regular maintenance, so make sure to visit your stylist every six weeks for a trim.

]]>Invest in a good hot oil massage with nourishing hair oils like coconut and olive oils. The oils will penetrate the hair shaft and keep the hair moisturized and massaging the scalp will improve blood circulation and stimulate hair growth.
As the weather cools down you will have to start drying your hair with a blow dryer more often, which does dry out the follicles. Try to avoid the straightening and curling tongs as much as you can or make sure to use protective sprays. You can also braid your wet hair in the evening and it will be dry with texture in the morning.
In order to avoid the cold and wet damaging your hair more, start covering your hair with a scarf or hat when you are outside. Silk or satin are your best options to stop static and flyaways.
The cold and dry air in the winter causes more split ends and breakage so make time to have regular trims to keep your ends fresh and even.

]]>Anyone can rock a short cut, the key is figuring out which style will make you feel the most YOU. Are you looking for something more feminine? Maybe opt for a cute, softly styled pixie or a classic bob. Are you looking for some edge? Think about asymmetry and blunt cuts. Want to look casual or punk rock? Then layers and shag are the way to go.
If you’re not sure what your preference is, you can download an app that lets you “try on” different hairstyles. Just upload a photo of your face, and select different haircuts to try. This is very helpful for figuring out what style will best suit your face shape and your personality.
Finally, be sure to come into the salon with pictures of what you want, and don’t be afraid to be specific. It’s also a good idea to ask your stylist for suggestions if you don’t have a clear picture of how the cut might look. Talk out the process with your stylist before you begin, and determine together what you want the end result to look like. That way there will be no surprises along the way—although surprises are often part of the fun when it comes to short hair!

]]>Bringing photos is much better than trying to explain what you want, but make sure that the models you’re looking at have a similar face shape and hair texture. Otherwise, the same haircut may look completely different on you.
Go to the salon with hair as you usually wear it, so the stylist can see what you’re aiming for. If you have curly hair, don’t fash it for at least two days before a haircut.
It’s typically a good idea to monitor the cutting process and give suggestions if you see it going in the wrong direction before it gets too late. Once you have the stylist you trust, you can relax during the treatment.

]]>When growing out bangs, clips will be your best friend. So invest in some cute barrettes and bobby pins the color of your hair in order to make the most out of having to constantly clip hair out of your face.
Bangs at different lengths of being grown out may look whack when parted one way but totally reasonable with a different hair part. If you’re having a particularly bad bang day, try changing up your part so see if it might make it look better.
Once your bangs hit a certain length, you can totally braid them to get them out of the way and also bring some style into it. 2004 Lauren Conrad, anyone?

]]>The hardest part of cutting your own hair is not being able to see the back of it. If you’re lucky enough to be living with somebody else during this pandemic, enlist them to help you, even if it’s just to even things out once you’re almost done.
The age-old adage about cutting hair is true: you can always cut off more hair, but you can’t undo the cutting you’ve already done. So when you cut your own hair, start by just taking off a centimeter or two.
If you’re used to going to the salon for your haircuts, you may like to get complicated styles with lots of layering and complex haircutting techniques. Unfortunately, it’s not totally likely that you’ll be able to replicate these techniques yourself. Instead, try to settle for something simple, like snipping off your dead ends.

]]>The post Should You Wash Your Hair Before a Haircut, Coloring, or Styling Appointment? appeared first on My Daily Magazine - Art, Design, DIY, Fashion and Beauty !.
]]>Well, it turns out that washing or not washing your hair before going to the salon depends on what type of haircut you’re getting. If you’re getting a dry cut, you’ll want to have freshly washed hair before heading to the salon. If you’re getting a wet cut, which most salons do, you don’t need to wash your hair before your appointment.
For a coloring appointment, you’ll want to come to the salon with clean, dry hair. And for a hairstyling appointment, you’ll want to show up with hair that’s clean, but not too clean. For this type of appointment, it’s best to wash your hair the day prior so your hair is completely dry by the time you head to the salon. Second-day hair is also easier to work with and hold a style better.
When in doubt, just call your hair salon and ask them if you should wash your hair prior to your appointment. But in general, don’t get too worked up about it as your hairstylist has dealt with these issues before.

]]>The post How to Tell Your Stylist That You Don’t Like You Haircut or Color appeared first on My Daily Magazine - Art, Design, DIY, Fashion and Beauty !.
]]>If you don’t like the color, tell your stylist while you’re still in the salon so they can get the chance to fix it. Your stylist would rather you tell them that you don’t like the color than for you to be unhappy and to tell your friends you didn’t like their work.
For haircuts, let your stylist know how short you want your hair before they even pick up the scissors. Bringing pictures is always a good idea for a frame of reference. If you’re not happy after the cut is complete, you should definitely say something so they can correct it or avoid making the same mistake for your next appointment.
For situations when your hair color looks different after you leave the salon, like after washing it, if it happens within a week or two of visiting the salon, you should let your stylist know so they can make adjustments to your cut or color.
Whatever you do, don’t try and fix your haircut or color at home! This makes it harder for any stylist to correct the errors and it will be much more expensive to do so.
