Square Toe Sandals Are Summer’s Biggest Shoe Trend

Butterfly hair clips, tie-dye print, and puffy sleeves are only some of the retro trends that experienced a huge re-emergence in the last few months. Square-toe sandals are also a part of this growing list, and something tells us they’re not going anywhere.

Bottega Veneta is one of the brands responsible for putting these ‘90s-inspired sandals back on the map. Many celebrities who have millions of followers on Instagram, including Kylie Jenner, Hailey Bieber, and Olivia Culpo, were quick to embrace them, and fast-fashion stores quickly followed suit.

Affluent brands, such as By Far, Rafa, and Proenza Schouler, now offer square-toe sandals, but you don’t have to cash out hundreds of buck to get a pair. Cheaper knockoffs can be found everywhere from Zara to H&M, and they come in a wide range of heel heights and strap patterns.

Time will tell if this trend will stick around and if we’ll be tempted to get a pair of square-toe boots come winter, but this trend is definitely polarizing. Some fashion experts feel like they should’ve stayed back in the ‘90s, while others are raiding their mom’s closet looking for a vintage pair that won’t cost them a fortune.
