When we think of cocktails, cold ones usually come to mind. But now that it’s starting to get colder outside, hot alcoholic beverages can help us brave the chillier weather. This buttered rum cocktail is ideal for holiday season and it even has ice cream in it. You’ll stay warm all fall and winter long while sipping this cocktail.

Ingredients:

Buttered Rum Batter:

  • 4 tablespoons, butter, softened
  • 3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Rum Drink:

  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 1 cup rum

Instructions:

  1. For the batter, beat the butter and brown sugar until it’s fluffy in a mixing bowl. Beat in the ice cream and cinnamon. Put the buttered rum batter in a mason jar or resealable container and store it in the freezer until hardened, about 2 hours.
  2. For the drinks, heat cider until boiling in a medium saucepan, stirring occasionally. Remove it from the heat and pour it into a pitcher.
  3. Place about 2 tablespoons of buttered rum batter into four mugs. Fill the mugs about 1/3 of the way with rum, then top them with the apple cider. Stir before drinking.
