Say Goodbye to Mosquitoes the Chic Way

There’s nothing like watching the sun go down, glass in hand, on a warm summer’s night. But there’s also nothing worse than being attacked by a swarm of mosquitoes intent on sucking the lifeblood out of you. Instead of heading indoors, why not tackle the little suckers the stylish way. We show you how.

Light oil lamps

For a beautifully-lit exterior, fill a few pretty oil lamps with citronella oil and place them around your seating area.

Hang citronella coils

These stylish cedarwood coils are soaked in citronella oil to keep bugs at bay. They work in the same way as incense and look super-chic.

Grow marigolds

Mosquitoes don’t like the smell of gorgeous, colorful marigolds one bit. Added to that, the plants contain a compound called pyrethrum, the active ingredient found in many insect repellents.

Burn palo santo sticks

Instead of using citronella, try these fragrant wooden incense sticks. Tied together in a bunch, they make a great décor accessory too.

Spray your linens

This linen mist contains the essential oils of peppermint, geranium, and cedarwood, all of which help keep the bugs away. Spray your tablecloths and clothes to prevent being bitten.
