Saints’ Michael Burton Cleared for Action Following Flawed COVID-19 Test

New Orleans fullback Michael Burton has been cleared to play after it was found that the positive result from his initial COVID-19 test was false.

Burton’s positive COVID-19 positive test result was confirmed on Saturday, meaning that he was originally ineligible for selection for the Saints’ next game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

In order to confirm the results of Burton’s test, the fullback was administered another COVID-19 test that came back with a negative result. Burton’s close contacts were also given COIVD-19 tests, all of which came back with a negative result as well.

Burton’s availability is great news for the New Orleans Saints, who are now looking to rebuild after suffering back-to-back losses against the Las Vegas Raiders and the Green Bay Packers.

The Louisiana-based side currently sit in second place in the NFC South standings, with Tampa Bay Buccaneers leading the pack while the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons sit below the Saints.
