Oily Hair? Here’s How to Train It to Stay Clean Longer

Having hair that gets oily quickly can be a real struggle. It’s a vicious cycle — you wash it often so it looks clean but it only makes it oily quicker. Is there something you can do to fix this? Here are our best tips.

Sulfate-Free Shampoo

Gentle shampoo free of sulfates may help your hair produce less natural oil. Regular shampoos that foam a lot are likely drying out your scalp, making it make up the lost oil by producing more of it.

Dry Shampoo

Even though it shouldn’t be used often, dry shampoo can help you get by for another day between two washes. Remember to apply it the night before and you’ll wake up with refreshed hair that doesn’t require immediate washing.

Limit Styling Products

Using too many styling products may make your hair heavier and turn it into an oily mess sooner than you’ll like. Avoid styling products altogether if you can or use one at a time.
