It’s official: pizza is better for you than cereal

We’re bombarded with scientific findings all the time. One day butter’s supposed to be good for you, and the next it’s a killer. And one-day coconut oil is a healthy fat, and the next day it’s not.

So, maybe we have started to take some of these ‘findings’ with a large pinch of salt. That being said, sometimes science discovers things that we can really get behind. A great example of that particular phenomenon is finding that pizza is better for you than cereal!

So says dietician, Chelsey Amer, in a report by The Evening Standard. She says that compared with the typical cereal options that are available, pizza is a more balanced meal. She said that an average slice of pizza and a bowl of cereal with whole milk are worth approximately the same number of calories. The thing is, she says, pizza contains far more protein, which helps to keep you fuller for longer.

However, Amer cautions that this is only true when taking the pizza toppings into account. Loads of cheese and fatty meats are not a good idea. But plenty of vegetables make a winning pizza.
