Famous model Joan Smalls is one of the celebrities who made it to the recent issue of Elle Décor, and she welcomed this magazine into her modern and cozy Miami apartment.
The September issue of this publication gives “a glimpse into the private spaces of some of fashion’s most influential forces,” and Smalls was lucky enough to make the cut. It’s not difficult to see why after taking a stroll through her residence and seeing how amazing it looks.
Smalls worked closely with Restoration Hardware to transform this two-bedroom apartment into a true oasis. She filled the space with cool gray and warm white items, lush greenery and designer furniture, often created with delicate natural materials.
The model’s home was inspired by one unexpected individual – famous designer Jeremy Scott. Despite his campy personal style, the Moschino creative director is a huge fan of minimalist home décor, and his approach inspired Smalls to create a retreat that’s a polar opposite of her hectic lifestyle.
“I asked him, ‘Is your place decorated in the same style?’ And he said, ‘Absolutely not. It’s extremely white and clean.’ You wouldn’t expect it from him, but I can understand why. He wants that contrast between what you do and how you live, which I love,” Joan Smalls told Elle.
