It’s Time to Get Into the Acne Positive Movement!

Acne is just the worst. As teenagers, we thought when we got into adulthood our pimples would go away, but for many of us this didn’t end up happening. Acne affects almost everyone and the latest beauty movement called #acnepositive is looking to normalize acne. The movement is associated with #skinpositivity, #acenesolutions, and #acnecommunity, and it’s about loving your skin no matter its condition.

It’s hard to understand why a condition that affects almost everyone is so taboo. If you’ve ever suffered from acne you know just how debilitating it can be and how it affects every aspect of your life. And while teenage acne is hard, adult acne is even worse because people associate acne with being a teenage issue.

Many of us during COVID-19 have experienced acne flare-ups for the first time in years from wearing masks, which has made us even more depressed during this already difficult time. A problem we thought was once behind us, has repapered.

The acne positive movement started online as a way to stand up against filters and social media. It’s all about destigmatizing acne and showing that everyone deals with pimples. The movement has allowed people who suffer from acne to regain a sense of control over their skin and to feel like the condition is normal, which it is.

You should know that acne is the least interesting part of you and that you have so much to offer the world, regardless of is you have a pimple or two.
