There’s nothing more impressive than putting homemade pasta on the dinner table, so impress your friends with this super simple gnocchi recipe!
Ingredients
- 1 cup instant mashed potato flakes
- 1 cup boiling hot water
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon dry rubbed sage
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Recipe
- Combine the potato flakes and the hot water together in a large bowl and mix well so the flakes turn into mashed potatoes.
- Beat the egg and add it into the mix and stir to combine.
- Measure out the flour and add that into the bowl along with all the spices. Mix to combine into a dough, if it’s too dry to come together, add 1 teaspoon of water at a time until it just comes together.
- On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough for 3-5 minutes, then divide into 4 sections and roll each section into a log.
- Cut the logs up into 1-inch pieces and let the gnocchi rest for 15 minutes.
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil with a lot of salt, and when it’s boiled, drop in the gnocchi.
- Scoop them gently out of the water with a slotted spoon once they’ve risen to the top of the pot.
- Serve with your favorite sauce!
