Basil’s garnish characteristics make for a great Pesto. But is blending the only way you can put it to use? Sidestep the sauce for once, and enjoy these non-pesto options you can create with a fresh bunch of this versatile herb.

Bring the Mint into Your Frittata Breakfast

Scatter freshly chopped basil to your Frittata. It’ll give you a fragrance of herb and mint complexity to your whisk-and-bake breakfast dish. Pair it with tender potatoes and two kinds of cheese (Ricotta and Gruyere) for a potato basil Frittata.

Dress Up Your Spatchcocked Chicken with the Freshness

Make your basil butter by pureeing two cups of fresh leaves with a blend of butter, garlic, and lemon zest. Rub it on the chicken and roast it in your oven. The souped-up butter will make it crispy, brown, and flavorful.

How about a Basil Drink Infusions?

Imagine having the fan-favorite Italian lemonade mixed with basil syrup? Use one bunch of basil and combine it with sugar and water. Simmer until the sugar is dissolved to make the syrup. Cool the syrup and stir into your favorite cocktail. You can store the excess in the refrigerator.
