We’ve all been taught not to double up denim and have avoided pairing our denim jackets with jeans like the plague. Kendall Jenner, however, dared break the rule and was spotted in jeans with a crop top, denim jacket and denim scrunchie. Shock, horror… she looked fabulous.
Unsurprisingly, when we tried to imitate the look, we ended up looking like an extra in the world’s corniest 90’s music video. Here are some tips to help you nail the denim on denim look.
Get with a set
If you’re no good at color matching, get a denim suit piece. You’ll get an outfit in one and you can mix and match the items separately. Finish the look with trendy sneakers or booties.
Keep it mono
Kendall nailed the look by wearing all denim of the same wash. Stick to one brand when putting together your ensemble and pair it up with a kitten heel to keep it chic.
Back to Black
Turn to dark denim for a polished, classy look. If it’s good enough for Victoria Beckham, it’s good enough for us.
Throw in some stripes
If you can’t find denim of the same wash, don’t fret. Throw in a stripey patterned tee to distract the clash and transform your outfit.
