Running—you either love it or hate it. While some people love it in the beginning, for others it takes a while to build a passion for it. Running is hard and it’s not always fun, but it’s one of the best ways to exercise and you don’t need any equipment or a gym. If you’re one of those people who wants to start running, but haven’t developed a love for it, here are some ways to make it something you love forward to.

Don’t Run as Punishment

Running is a great way to get in shape and there are tons of health benefits associated with it. But if you’re just running to burn calories or lose weight, it can start to feel like a punishment. Instead, associate your running with positive things like running your first 5K or marathon.

Run for the Benefits

Running is not only good for your physical health, it also benefits your emotional health. It can improve heart health, reduce anxiety, and improve sleep.

Reward Yourself

After your run, reward yourself with a relaxing bath, a message, or a delicious, healthy snack.

Rest

Rest days are important for recovery and to prevent your body from being injured or fatigued. Also, incorporate other exercises like HIIT, yoga, cycling, swimming, and strength training, so you don’t overwork your muscles.
