A vase filled with fresh flowers will make every interior feel nicer and more welcoming. But don’t you hate it when your beautiful bouquet starts to go bad after just a few days? Who wouldn’t want their flowers to last at least a couple of days longer? Here’s how you can help them bloom.
Pick the Right Kind
There are some flowers that will naturally last longer than others do once they are cut. You can’t go wrong with lilies, roses, and sunflowers.
Trim Their Stems
Before putting them in the water, trim the stems under an angle to prevent them from sticking to the bottom of the vase and not getting any water.
Remove Excess Leaves and Petals
If there’s anything that would end up soaked in water, remove it upfront. Rotten leaves in water will grow bacteria and kill your flowers quicker.
Big or Small?
Heavier flowers are better off in a smaller vase with stems trimmed. Light and fluffy flowers look great in tall vases.
