How to Improve Your Language Learning Experience on Duolingo

Duolingo is the first app most people turn to when learning a new language, but it has its downsides. Its playful nature can make it seem like it’s not as effective as a traditional language course, but here’s how you can put it to some good use.

Writing Down

Duolingo itself recommends writing new words and phrases down as you go through new lessons. You would have an easier time memorizing them this way, and you’ll be able to through them again once you’re done using the app.

Back to Basic

Each lesson in Duolingo has five levels, not just one. If you feel you haven’t mastered them fully after passing the first level, you can always go back instead of trying to complete the entire checkpoint by quickly moving through separate lessons.

More Practice

If you use Duolingo as your only language learning tool, don’t stop once you’re out of hearts. You can refill them by practicing, but short stories that will improve your reading and listening skills are also available.
