Since Peaky Blinders became one of the highest-rated shows of the last decade, flat caps and buttoned shirts have started making a comeback in male fashion. Day 18: ‘Latest Piece’ This one had its lining put in last night, so it’s hot off the press. I finally got a cloche block a few months ago and have been eager to try it out. It only took three months! Other projects have taken precedence, but this week I thought it high time it came off the block and had a trim. It’s a cream Panama with matching binding and a vintage rust 55mm petersham bow trim. And a vintage copper button. The trim was originally going to be all cream, and I tried several different things, but nothing worked. I tried the rust and it worked first time. It was also going to have flowers, but they looked a bit twee. And I always love a button! It’s the sort of thing I think I’d choose to wear as an everyday summer hat if I was magically transported back to the 20s.
