In Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, the characters measure time in the years “After Ford” (A.F.), meaning that not much mattered in the time before Henry Ford revolutionized work with the introduction of the assembly line.
In our current day and age in which all things digital come first and foremost, we may as well consider our time right now to be A.I., or rather “After Instagram.” Instagram is one of the first things we tend to check when we wake up in the morning, go on our work commutes, and sometimes may be the last thing we look at before going to bed, which would make “A.I.” a fitting measure of time for our social media-crazed current world order.
