Here’s A Sneak Peak Of The V&A’s Christian Dior Exhibition

The first images from inside the V&A’s Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition are finally here.

The exhibition is so much more than a few dresses being shoved on display. There will be original pencil sketches, pop-culture nods and garments designed for and worn by worldwide celebrities including Rihanna and Princess Margaret.

The whole exhibition has been curated and designed to create the feeling of glamour and artistry which is essential to Dior’s vision.

“The influence of Christian Dior’s design was all-pervasive and helped o define an era”, said Oriole Cullen, the V&A’s fashion curator. “In their own individual ways, each of the house’s successive artistic directors have referenced and reinterpreted Dior’s own designs and continued the legacy of the founder, ensuring that the House of Christian Dior is at the forefront of fashion today.”

If you went to the Christian @Dior Designer of Dreams (or Couturier du Rêve) exhibition in Paris back in 2017, you might not want to compare and contrast like for like with the one that is about to open at the @vamuseum in London Ostensibly it is in a much smaller space and doesn’t have the artworks anchoring the haute couture gowns like it did at @madparis But what the @vamuseum exhibition does do is concentrate on the haute couture pieces themselves, with 60% of the gowns changed for the occasion, with a BIGger emphasis on pieces that are physically and visually more imposing That means more of the super extra Galliano archive looks and new additions like Princess Margaret’s 21st birthday gown in the Dior in Britain section The exhibition also retains the magic of the genius set design from the original exhibition as exemplified by the Dior Ball section that I stood for five minutes in a thankfully empty room to capture on time lapse #DiorDesignerofDreams opens this Saturday @vamuseum

Even if you’re not super into fashion, if you are in London between February 2 and July 15, the stunning exhibition is absolutely worth checking out. Tickets will cost £20 ($26).
