A couple of years ago, hygge became one of the internet’s favorite words. It’s the word that describes a Danish concept of staying cozy during winter and many people around the world have embraced it.

Decorating your home according to hygge creates a perfect balance to the hectic lifestyle that’s becoming common around the world. Your home should be a sanctuary that helps you deal with daily stress and hygge can play a big role in that.

The concept of hygge dates back to the 18th century and it has pretty much stayed the same since then. Hygge is more popular in the winter when people become more focused on creating a comfortable and cozy atmosphere in their homes since it’s so cold and dark outside. There are even claims that hygge is responsible for the fact that the residents of Denmark are often proclaimed the world’s happiest people, despite having little daylight for months on end.

In the future, we expect hygge to pretty much stay the same. It’s all about enjoying the little things in life, spending time with the loved ones, and creating a warm atmosphere at home that will spread to everyone around you.
