Making beauty products at home has so many benefits: you know what is going into your products, it’s sustainable, and usually, it ends up being more cost-efficient. The base for all of these products is coconut oil since it is versatile and readily available. Consider incorporating some of these products into your beauty routine and you’ll love the way you look.

Lipstick

To make lipstick at home, you only need three products for the base: coconut oil, beeswax pellets, and shea or cocoa butter. All you need to do is melt them together, pour into a small jar, and you have lipstick! Depending on what hue you want to achieve, add beet powder or natural red dye for a classic red and cocoa powder, cinnamon, and turmeric for tan and brown hues.

Natural Mascara

This mascara has many of the same ingredients as the lipstick; coconut oil, shea butter and beeswax pellets. Melt these together with aloe vera, and then add in 1-2 capsules of activated charcoal. Pour the liquid into a plastic bag, wait for it to cool, and then snip off the corner to make a piping bag and fill an empty mascara tube. Add vitamin E oil if you’d like to make the mascara last more than 3-4 months.
