It may be too cold to go outside, but there are plenty of family activities to try at home over this festive break. Try encouraging the whole family to stay away from screens and join in some good old fashioned fun.
Vegetable Printing
Making art from vegetables can be very simple and visually spectacular. Try cutting some potatoes in half, and using them to make painted prints. The more shape and sizes of vegetables that you use, the more interesting the finished product.
Treasure Hunts
Ask each member of the family to hide small items around a room. Try pegs or marbles, so that everyone is looking for the same items. If your family is particularly adventurous, include some cryptic clues to make the hunt more interesting.
Cooking & Feasting
Have a bake-off with the family. Split into teams and see who can come up with the most delicious treats. Why not get friends and family involved and set different courses for each one? You can then all get together later, have a great meal and judge the flavors.
Music and Dance
When was the last time you danced together with your family? Why not create a playlist with everyone’s favorite and dance the night away. Add a few disco lights to get that party atmosphere going.
Quiz Time
Each member of your family can be responsible for writing a round of quiz questions. Even younger children can get involved with a little help. Divide into teams and see who will be the quiz champion. You might want to get friends involved as well, and then see if grown-ups can beat the children.
